Public Bank Access is a paid $299 add-on offered by StemCyte that gives families priority search through StemCyte's public cord blood bank when a child's own privately banked unit cannot be used for transplant. Public Bank Access is not free and is not automatically included with any banking plan. StemCyte, Inc. is a global cord blood bank founded in 1997 in Baldwin Park, California, is one of the only banks in the U.S. that operates both a private and public cord blood bank, and holds FDA US License 2280 for REGENECYTE®.
When your baby needs more protection, we are there.
A $299 add-on. Priority access to matching donor cord blood units from StemCyte's public bank if your child's stored unit cannot be used.
What is Public Bank Access?
Private banking stores your baby's cells exclusively. But sometimes a child needs donor cells instead of their own, or needs more volume than a single collection provides.
Most banks can only offer one side: private or public. StemCyte does both. That dual infrastructure is what makes PBA possible.
With Public Bank Access, if your banked unit isn't enough, StemCyte will search for a matching donor unit from our public bank and deliver it to your hospital at no additional cost. If we can't find a match locally, we search internationally.
We handle everything: matching, funding, and delivery.
When would you need Public Bank Access?
When Treatment Shifts
For certain cancers and genetic disorders, a child cannot use their own stem cells. Donor cells are essential, PBA helps secure them.
When Kids Grow
As children grow, volume needs increase. A single unit may not be enough for an adult. PBA ensures access to additional units.
When Plans Change
Birth is unpredictable. In rare cases, a hospital collection yields low volume or the sample isn't viable. PBA provides a backup donor unit.
Public Bank Access vs Public Bank Access+
PBA secures your child. PBA+ extends that biological protection to parents. Both are advanced protection options for your private banking plan.
